About Us

What drives us
CSE is guided by two sets of principles.

The principles of grassroots organizing state that grassroots:   1) Win real improvements in peoples lives.   2) Empower individuals to create change.   3) Shift the balance of power to the majority.

The principals of sustainability state that the organization work towards a healthier environment, economy, and social condition that can be achieved without compromising future generation's ability to do the same.

Each of our campaigns is graded against these principles.   For example:   Our campaign to get commuter rail from Denver to Fort Collins instead of expanding I-25 effects sustainability by reducing air pollution, growing the local economy without sprawl, and giving people a transportation option that doesn't require the use of a car.   This is a real improvement in people's lives.   By canvassing and generating letters we are empowering individual citizens to make their community a better place.   We are taking the decision making process out of the "backroom" where special interest have the power and bringing it to the people so that citizens can influence the process.
